Beyond the Theory of Relativity
Applying Einstein's theories to the astral realms
A week ago, I wrote about our eternal and indestructible nature (you can read it here). As you know we are energy – and in essence, we share the same properties as energy itself, eternal and indestructible. This subject is close to my heart. In one of my early meditations, I was shown a vision of this in a very cinematic way: first I was shown the four elements – earth, fire, air, and water – and then a fifth element: energy.
Energy is everything. It is the element that gives rise to all the others. Do you remember Albert Einstein’s famous equation, E = mc²?
It tells us that energy (E) and mass (m) are interchangeable. When we split an atom, energy is released. And in places like CERN’s particle accelerator, we can do the reverse: smash particles together at high speeds to create mass out of energy. Amazing, isn't it?
Then there’s the speed of light (c). In Einstein’s equation, it acts as the conversion factor. Think of mass and energy as two currencies. The speed of light is the exchange rate between them. In our universe, that “exchange rate” is fixed at exactly 299,792,458 meters per second.
Here’s a curious synchronicity: the Great Pyramid of Giza sits at latitude 29.9792458°N – the same sequence of numbers as the speed of light. Probably coincidence, but worth a raised eyebrow given that latitude is an ancient system of measurement.
Anyway…
I’m no astrophysicist, but here’s where my speculation begins: I suspect that energy and mass are interchangeable not only in the physical universe but also in the astral realms. If you’ve read my earlier articles, you know I frequently travel out of body and have visited these realities many times.
What stands out in the astral is how quickly things change. Energy becomes form without colliders, and form dissolves back into energy without splitting atoms. It’s as if the “exchange rate” of the speed of light doesn’t apply there.
In the astral, intention itself seems to be the fuel. Want to travel across the galaxy? You don’t need infinite energy – you simply set the intention, and you’re there instantly.
Many esoteric teachers describe Earth as a denser vibration, a slower-moving reality than the higher astral planes. Here, manifestation takes time. On Earth, Einstein’s equation reminds us why: changing matter into energy (and back again) demands immense effort. And with the speed of light as an absolute limit, mass can never exceed it – the energy required would be infinite.
This makes me wonder: perhaps the speed of light isn’t only a number in an equation, but also a kind of safeguard. It stabilises our reality. For example, without it, causality itself – cause before effect – could collapse.
When we move into higher astral planes, like the Mental Plane (a realm of pure thought), this conversion factor seems absent, or at least rather sublime. Thought manifests instantly. Mass and energy blur together. It seems reasonable to believe that in these realms, the “speed of light” equivalent simply doesn’t exist.
This also ties into time. In relativity, time slows as speed increases (time dilation). We know this is real – GPS satellites must correct for it daily. And yet, in the astral, time often behaves in entirely different ways – stretching, speeding, or vanishing altogether. If no “speed of light” exists there, perhaps time itself unravels.
The Theory
So here’s my layman’s proposal: energy and mass are interchangeable across all realities. Most esoteric thinkers agree that causality – cause preceding effect – is universal. In Einstein’s relativity, the speed of light preserves causality. Without it, in theory, effects could precede causes (as Terence McKenna once said, that would make things “very, very weird”).
I believe that in the astral realms, there must also be some kind of converter between energy and mass to maintain stability. It may not be the speed of light, and it may vary from plane to plane. Perhaps it could look like this:
E=mX
Where X is unknown to us – a different “exchange rate” in each astral plane.
Think of the speed of light as the source code of our physical universe – the rule that underpins the game we’re playing. In my view, that code is intentional. And it may very well explain why astral realities feel the way they do and why they differ from our reality on Earth. They simply use another conversion factor between energy and matter. But here’s perhaps the most intriguing part of this theory - the conversion factor doesn’t necessarily need to be “time”. Speed of light is a measurement of space time, but the astral planes could, in theory, use another converter, for example an intention, frequency of thought or similar. Mind-boggling, isn’t it?
If you have thoughts on this theory, I’d love to hear them. If you’re an astrophysicist or a serious astral traveller and think this theory is complete rubbish, please let me know where I’ve gone wrong – that’s the best way to learn.
Thanks for reading this (slightly more technical) piece. Have a wonderful weekend, everyone.

If the esoteric traditions such as Hermeticism are to be taken at face value, then once you leave this plane of denser, lower vibration, then the only limiter for creation or movement would be the speed of thought itself. Since existence resides exclusively within the great singular consciousness, with laws set by its own essence, this would be the only logical conclusion. That thought itself determines the speed of effect.
I’ve learned to slow down with intention.
I’ve also traveled with the speed of time, far and wide.
When I focus on the present moment, time itself stretches.
People often ask me: how do you find time to do all that you do with three kids?
The truth is — it’s not about having more hours.
It’s about moving with intention.
Intention creates space.
Intention creates time.
