Synchronicities
An invitation to become a seeker?
Let me guess – it all started with a crisis of some sort? Perhaps burnout, depression, separation, or physical illness. Something that made you slow down and take a look at your surroundings and your life. Suddenly you became aware. It’s difficult to explain to someone who hasn’t experienced it, but you felt an awareness that you hadn’t felt in years, perhaps not since childhood. A newly discovered sensitivity and responsiveness to the world around you.
It didn’t take long before you started noticing small coincidences. Recurring number combinations in strange places, license plates on cars, the clock always seeming to be 11:11 when you look at it. You go out to order food and there it is again – the number on your receipt matches the number you’ve seen everywhere lately. You open your Substack feed just to yet again find that exact number of likes on a post.
You know that the human brain is designed to find patterns. You try to tell yourself that it’s just coincidences. But yet, it doesn’t feel like coincidences. In fact, these strange coincidences don’t seem to stop. They continue, and you have a strong feeling that either you are going completely mad – or these observations of yours are real. Someone, or something, is trying to get your attention…
Most people who have ever had a spiritual awakening will tell you about synchronicities. Specific number combinations that seem to be everywhere, or other strange coincidences – like repeatedly meeting the same person everywhere, or a name that keeps showing up in the most unexpected places. Synchronicities come in all shapes and forms. The only thing that combines them is the feeling they leave us with – the feeling of improbability. If there are 10,000 different combinations of a four-digit number, how come I see this exact number over and over again in the strangest of places?
I’ve encountered various number combinations through the years – but most consistently different combinations of 144 and 111. Some call these recurring numbers angel numbers. I’m not too fond of that name, because I don’t think they necessarily have anything to do with angels, but I guess it’s the most widespread term used for them.
I can give you one example of a synchronicity that just happened to me. I decided to write this post about synchronicities and were looking for a picture on my phone to use for the post. I found it and sent an email to myself containing the picture in order to get it onto my computer.
I have to admit that even for a person quite used to encountering synchronicities, I thought it was kind of funny that the email I sent to myself from my phone arrived at exactly 11:11. However, what’s even more fascinating is that, for some reason, Outlook set the time of reception to 11:11 – but the clock on my computer was still at 11:10 when this happened. The clock in Outlook and the clock on my computer was not in sync at that moment. And this happened almost at the same moment as I decided to write this post. Yet again, a few too many improbable coincidences.
Some of my collection of synchronicities.
As I mentioned, our brains have developed to be able to spot patterns, even where those patterns don’t really exist. If you are skeptical, this whole thing with synchronicities is easily explained by this ability of ours. And yes – some of the things you believe are synchronicities are probably just the result of this cognitive ability to see patterns. But I don’t think you can explain this phenomenon by just referring to a pattern-seeking brain.
In my own experience, synchronicities often appear when there’s a message to be received. Sometimes I have an idea, as just now when I decided to write this post, and the next thing I know – a synchronicity appears. For me, I interpret it as encouragement to proceed with my idea. Sometimes I may feel sad, or just generally a bit down, and somehow a synchronicity appears to remind me that I’m not alone, that I’m loved.
As many of you can attest – when you have a spiritual awakening, you will start seeing and encountering these synchronicities on a scale you haven’t seen before. It’s not just your brain suddenly starting to see a lot of irrational patterns everywhere – they seem almost triggered by changing circumstances in your life. When you start to become aware. I started seeing these angel numbers before I even knew there was a term for them.
Then the question is – what do these synchronicities mean?
I have for a long time been trying to understand our reality. I have explored astral realities, trying to understand the mechanics of the veil that keeps information from transferring between these different realms. I think synchronicities are a form of communication – most of us become aware of them when we are doing ordinary chores in our daily lives. I have never experienced an angel number when I’m out of body – somewhere in the astral, or when I’m dreaming. Guides and other entities don’t have to contact us like that when we are in their domain. They can speak directly, telepathically or they just show us a symbol. But they usually don’t just show us a random three- or four-digit number.
Synchronicities show up on the license plate of the car in front of you, on your clock, or at the restaurant where you eat your lunch. It seems as if angel numbers are shown to you when someone on the other side of the veil is trying to get your attention – not the other way around. You have probably never seen an angel number when you are meditating or otherwise trying to get in contact with your guides or loved ones on the other side.
As I mentioned, synchronicities may not just show up in numbers – but the fact that we often see them as numbers actually tells us something about our reality. Basically, that our reality is just numbers – similar to a computer program. Physical reality is mathematics. In a world created by numbers, why not use numbers to communicate with the souls trapped in this world? They are feeding us combinations of ones and zeros, as any computer scientist would do. It makes sense when you think about it. The fact that we use numbers for a variety of purposes is probably also a good explanation – there are plenty of numbers visually available to us in our daily lives at all times. An easy way to get our attention, in other words.
This is not a world in which mathematics was created; this is a world created by mathematics.
However, having said all this, it may still be difficult to understand what synchronicities mean. It’s like trying to understand what someone wants when they call you just by listening to the ringing of your phone.
Sure, sometimes you may get the message directly – you were thinking about calling a friend and you just saw your angel number crossing the street. Most likely an encouragement to make that call. But it’s not always that clear – sometimes these synchronicities just don’t make any sense to us. You may sit down, relax a bit – try to listen: Is there anything you want to tell me? You may get some hints – perhaps you simply know once you slow down a bit. Sometimes, just nothing.
As with any metaphysical experience, we are often left with more questions than answers. And that’s part of the game – we’re not here for the end goal; we are here for the quest itself. We are, over and over again, being encouraged to become seekers. To be the ones who ask the questions, to be the ones who seek to understand – who have the courage to go out into uncharted territory.
That’s why you are bombarded with signs when you wake up – you are encouraged to keep exploring, to grow. The synchronicities you experience are the acknowledgement that there is more to be seen – a confirmation to keep digging.
At least, that’s my theory.
I hope you have enjoyed this – until next week, have a lovely, wonderful weekend!
